A city gets completely devastated by a hurricane, but the hurricane is not able to crush the spirits of the people living in it and they built a new city for themselves.. A tale like this would make a good book…and it would be based on a true set of events of what happened about forty years ago in a place just south of Mexico. This is the truth behind the origin of the city of Belmopan, the capital city of the country of Belize.
The first capital city of Belize was called Belize City. It was on the coast and was hit by virtually every major hurricane – and almost destroyed in the 1960s by storm named Hadey. It was soon decided to build a new capital in the center of the country named Belmopan. There is a growing number of people that have decided that this city is worth visiting or, like me, have decided to make it a new home. Fortunately, whenever visiting this new capital city there is a Belmopan hotel available to meet almost any taste.
There are many interesting things to see in the Belmopan area such as the Mopan river, the Blue Hole and ancient caves used by the Mayan and fortunately there are hotels in Belmopan located by these places.
If you want to visit a place that is near the rain forest and the mountains then come to Belmopan since there are a wide variety of hotels right in the area – there is bound to be a Belmopan hotel for you. Since there are so many people that visit Belmopan looking for a different experience most of these hotels are prepared to handle almost every types of visitor from single travelers to large families. For those on a budget there are low-budget hotels or economical bread and breakfast that can meet your needs.
There are no 5 star hotels in the Belmpan area but there are still several places you can stay at with a high level of service. Most hotels offer many of the services that you would find in a hotel in the United States – telephone, television, Internet (at times wireless in your room), and many other services that contribute to a great stay.
